CAA Workshops
Our workshops can take the form of a presentation, an activity, or a "round table" discussion on a variety of topics. Through our workshops we seek to educate by discussing trends in the field and learning from one another, edify through networking growing up the next generation, and encourage one another in our personal walks and ministry. Some of our past workshops have covered topics such as: risk management, measuring your program's effectiveness, relationships and conflict resolution, how to teach knot tying, discovering attributes of God that are evident in nature, challenge course rescue techniques, etc. Workshops are generally small and interactive in nature. If you are interested in presenting a workshop, just fill out this form and send it to bmac26@hotmail.com. We will be accepting proposals through October 1, 2008.
Skills and Thrills
This is one area that makes CAA conferences very unique. You might be wondering what we mean by "skills and thrills." As the name suggests, we seek to equip one another by learning new skills, developing skills, and having fun doing it. This is an excellent chance to do something you have never done before, to develop a skill you already have, or just to get out and have some adventure as a participant instead of a leader. Skills and thrills can take the form of a longer skill-based workshop (sometimes certification workshops are offered), or just a good time with like-minded friends in an outdoor setting. It's only fitting for a bunch of wilderness and adventure leaders to network while being active in the outdoors!
This year's skills & thrills options will include rock climbing at Devil's Lake State Park, which offers some of the most premier toproping and lead climbing in the country. Canoeing/kayaking on Devil's Lake or on the Baraboo River will also be available, as well as hiking, and other exciting possibilities that we are still working on. Come ready for an adventure!
