Mount Hermon Canopy Tour Coordinator
Be a part of our pioneering ministry venture by helping to launch the first canopy tour in the California redwoods.
This program will be a premier world-class tour with twin silent cable systems, harmonious design elements, integrated faith building and jaw dropping sky bridges over our riparian corridor. We are seeking an organized, enthusiastic and responsible staff person with a love for Christ and Creation, a passion for serving people and the ability to supervise staff working in a technical environment. The Canopy Tour Coordinator will schedule MH staff operating the Canopy Tour, contact, greet and orient the guests participating in tours from internal MH sources and a portion of our public tours, and plan regularly needed maintenance in cooperation with the Bonsai Design staff. This person will also serve as a lead tour guide and provide relief for Bonsai Design’s technical manager on their days off. Part-time hourly. No benefits. Training costs fully covered after 200 hours of service. Minimum of 20 hours a week up to 40 depending on the demand level. This position can continue on a year round basis. Must have at least two seasons in a roped adventure setting and one season in a supervisory role in any context. Must be able to get or have Wilderness First Aid certification plus CPR. Physically able to lead tours, perform required rescues and work up to two continuous hours in the trees up to eight hours a day total. Housing arrangements can be made if on-site is preferred. $12-16 per hour DOE. Preference given to candidates able to commit to hours beyond summer season. Summer Adventure Intern

True North Expeditions (TNX), www.truenorthexpeditions.org, a Christian nonprofit wilderness adventure ministry based out of Anchorage, Alaska, is actively recruiting for four (4) Summer Adventure Interns to lead summer adventures in Alaska. This position reports directly to the Summer Adventure Coordinator. TNX’s mission is to build relationships, promote spiritual and personal growth, and experience the power of walking with Christ through wilderness adventure. We are looking for energetic, self-starters and problem-solvers that are passionate about serving people in the outdoors and being effective witnesses for Christ. Summer Adventure Interns will be responsible for carrying out day- and multi-day trips, executing logistics, preparing equipment and food for multi-day trips, physically and spiritually leading adventures. A higher level of consideration will be given to those applicants who will commit to serving with TNX for two or more years. The successful applicant will have the following Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Abilities (KSEAs): • Self-motivated, able to work independently and solve problems using innovative solutions; • Experience in wilderness travel. Leading wilderness trips including whitewater rafting and/or inflatable kayaking a plus. Alaska experience a big plus! • Experience with coordinating wilderness adventures including transportation, food and equipment preparation; • Excellent verbal communication skills; • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification a plus; • Ability to lead Interns and provide guidance on decisions. Year-Round Wilderness Camp Counselor/Teacher
Cameron Boys Camp is a relationship-based, intense ministry to at-risk youth in a wilderness setting. Living in the outdoors year-round, fishing, climbing trees, paddling 200 miles down a river in Florida or Georgia, camping by a lake in North or South Carolina, and backpacking the Appalachian Trail in Virginia - all are part of the camp adventure. The heart of our ministry is building a daily partnership and relationship with youth. Through a group process of goal setting and problem solving, we help youth confront and resolve past issues and current life conflicts.
Three counselor/teachers live with each group of 10 campers in a primitive campsite setting. Activities include tent building, fixed campsite maintenance, routine chores, woodcarving, weekly cookouts, a hands-on experiential education program, educational daytrips, trip planning and extended expedition trips such as two- to four-week river/canoeing, hiking/backpacking, lake and road trips. Applicants should have a passion for Christ and youth. We are looking for single, male applicants with a BS/BA and looking for a mission to immerse themselves in for at least two years. They should welcome challenges and be no stranger to hard work. Other necessary qualities include a love for the outdoors, enjoying working with others to get things done, excellent physical health, strong leadership abilities, a willingness to learn and grow, and a positive servant attitude. MONTREAT COLLEGE is opening a state of the art community-building and educational center in Black Mountain, NC. The Team and Leadership Center (TLC) includes components made up of a five-sided 50’ climbing tower, nine-element two tiered team challenge course, 15 fixed low group initiatives, portable initiatives, equipment room, restrooms, and open pavilion. Portions of the tower, teams course, and low elements are designed to be accessible to participants with disabilities. We are seeking a professional individual to lead the adventure education portion of our services that utilize the fixed and portable initiatives. This will include service to churches, ministries, community groups, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and corporations. The director will work closely with the BackCountry program, the Outdoor Education department, and the Montreat College Professional Development Institute.
MONTREAT COLLEGE is looking for a candidate with experience in daily operations, delivery, and management of adventure/experiential education programs primarily utilizing fixed and portable initiatives. Experience with challenge course facilitation, initiatives, games, cooperative learning, staff training, and risk management are critical. Programming will include high and low ropes courses, mobile experiential learning services, and multi-phased curriculum offered to youth and adults.
