Training

Part of CAA’s mission statement is to educate and equip wilderness and adventure leaders.  One of the ways we seek to do that is by helping leaders to find quality training opportunities.  As the field of outdoor adventure education continues to grow, so do the myriad of training opportunities that are available to the general public.  The increasing emphasis on certifications and profession-based training has also contributed to the growing number of courses available.  How do you find a course that meets or exceeds  industry standards as well as giving you the tools you need for ministry?

CAA seeks to help practitioners to find courses that meet their needs in skill development and spiritual formation.  All courses sanctioned by the CAA have been reviewed by our board of directors and have passed our requirements in the following areas:

  • The training curriculum meets industry standards in the hard and/or soft skill areas;
  • The organization providing the training has a risk management plan and liability insurance appropriate to the type of courses they provide;
  • The courses offered focus on leadership and ministry relative to the skill(s) being taught;
  • The instructors are well qualified and competent to teach the specific skill set.

Browse our upcoming opportunities or trainings calendar for information on CAA sanctioned training events.  If you have questions about training opportunities, or would like to inquire about getting your course sanctioned by the CAA, please send an email to trainings@caainfo.org.
